OFFICIAL: UEFA Announces Champions League & Europa League venue changes-Arsenal, Man United, Liverpool..

UEFA officially anounced Champions League venues changes. The round of 16 first legs between Mönchengladbach and Manchester City, plus Leipzig and Liverpool will now take place in Budapest because the covid-19 restrictions.

UEFA have also stated that in the event of a draw over two legs, away goals will count double.

08/02/2021: Mönchengladbach vs Manchester City

UEFA statement reads: “UEFA can confirm that the UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg match between Borussia VfL 1900 Mönchengladbach and Manchester City FC will now take place at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest. The date of the match (24 February 2021) and kick-off time (21:00 CET) will remain the same”

“UEFA would like to thank Borussia VfL 1900 Mönchengladbach and Manchester City FC for their close cooperation and support, as well as the Hungarian Football Federation for their assistance and agreeing to host the match in question.”

07/02/2021: Leipzig vs Liverpool

“UEFA can confirm that the UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg match between RB Leipzig and Liverpool FC will now take place at Puskás Aréna in Budapest. The date of the match (16 February 2021) and kick-off time (21:00 CET) will remain the same.”

“UEFA would like to thank RB Leipzig and Liverpool FC for their close cooperation and assistance in finding a solution to the issue at hand, as well as the Hungarian Football Federation for their support and agreeing to host the match in question.”

Other European games Changed their venues

UEFA have confirmed Benfica vs. Arsenal will take place at neutral grounds. The first leg which is Benfica’s ‘home’ game will take place from the Stadio Olimpico whereas the second leg will take place from the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium in Athens.

Real Sociedad – Manchester United will be moved from San Sebastian and played in Turin

UEFA can confirm that the UEFA Europa League round of 32 first leg match between Real Sociedad de Fútbol and Manchester United FC will now take place at the Juventus Stadium in Turin. The date of the match (18 February 2021) and kick-off time (18:55CET) will remain the same.

UEFA would like to thank Real Sociedad de Fútbol and Manchester United FC for their close cooperation and assistance in finding a solution to the issue at hand, as well as the Italian Football Federation and Juventus for their support and agreeing to host the match in question.
